kinda a flashback day...

today started out as any other day... 3 a.m. alarm clock... two pushes of the snooze...3:20 roll out of bed to be to work by 3:45... then, as im workin... i get this picture... just what i need... to be beat up by another arizona cardinal fan... (remember... the seahawks lost to the cardinals when we were down there a couple of weeks ago)

then, as im leaving work... my dad texts me about a new cupcake shop... just opened here in downtown tacoma... hello cupcake... http://www.hello-cupcake.com/ ... when we were down in arizona our good friends, the staples brought us to a cupcake shop in scottsdale... the one here in t-town is located next to... the harmon... http://www.harmonbrewing.com/ the staples favorite restaurant in tacoma...sweet memories...

needless to say... i bought a dozen...

and finally... our kids had a half day at school today... so when i asked noah what he wanted to do this afternoon... he said... monopoly... he loves games... my first purchase... camelback mtn. phoenix, arizona... candace and mark brought us to this mtn. to see the incredible sights...

what a great day... what great memories... what a great life...

Conversations with Noah

Today was picture day for the kids at school. I had gotten this sweater for Cole awhile ago, but this is the first time he's worn it. Noah and I had this conversation about the sweater.

Noah: Cole's sweater looks like Joseph's coat of many colors

Mom: Yeah, I guess it kind of does. You're not going to throw him in a pit and sell him into slavery just because I bought him a crazy colored sweater, are you?

Noah: . . . (thinking) . . I don't think I really know anyone who would buy him as a slave . . . .

Conversations with Abby

Abby: Hey Mom, you know the Jesus song with the red, yellow, black and white . . . what are those colors all about?

Mom: Those are referring to the colors of people's skin.

Abby: Oh . . . . which one am I?

Mom: You are white.

Abby: Oh . . . . (confused look) . . . I thought I was peach.

Fun Memories

This video was taken by my brother, Greg, when he was visiting us from North Dakota for Thanksgiving in 2004. It made me smile to watch Noah & Ethan in action, because although they've certainly changed a lot since then, their personalities are still so similar today.

blessings

I try to get up fairly early in the morning to get some work in before the kids get up. Not at 3:00 am when Mark gets up, but by 4:30 for sure. I get myself ready for the day and then work until around 7:00 when the kids start waking up. Today, Cole ventured downstairs around 6:00 wiping the sleep from his eyes. I admit, I was a bit irritated. This is supposed to be my work time! I told him that it wasn't time to get up yet. Look, I said, it's still dark outside! I turned around from my desk with him in my lap to see the most beautiful sunrise. These pictures do not do it justice. It made me stop thinking about what I wasn't getting done and take a moment to be thankful for the amazing sunrise, the hugs and love of my son, and the blessings that my God showers upon me. And . . . I wondered how many blessings He longs to give me, but I am too busy to notice . . . Suddenly, I was thankful for Cole waking up early today.

football and nails...

big day for the millers... noahs first football game of the season... and abby's first manicure... noahs team...the hawks played the first game of the season today at ingersoll stadium against

the cougars... the first half they didnt play up to the high energy we are used to seeing in practice and they fell behind 20-0... but with some encouragement from us... the coaching staff... they came out in the second half and did what we knew they could do... they put 2 balls into the end zone and made a game of it... but... time was on the side of the cougars and they held off the hawks rally to win 26-12... noah had a great time... he started on defense and played some on the offense line also... he was also on the return team... he is so enjoying football... to top off his day we stayed to watch his buddy t.j. grant lead his team...the wolves of black hills... to a 6-0 victory over the bears of olympia... t.j. had a great game and noah cheered him on loudly...

abby went to "biz" fears birthday party where they had their nails done professionally... abby had never done this before and she had a good time... her nails look superb and after they got done they went to starbucks for birthday beverages... this was a great time for the girls... HAPPY BIRTHDAY "BIZ"

now... all the kids tucked away... im going to try to get some sleep... i got an early day at the office tomorrow...

Stinky dog

I think that there is nothing worse than a stinky dog. OK, that may be a slight exaggeration, but I really do hate the smell of stinky dogs. As a result, Snickers has already had lots of baths in her first year! Normally it is my job to give the baths, but this weekend Mark and Ethan helped me out. Thanks guys!!! Ethan is our family's animal lover. There is not an animal that he doesn't love. Don't step on an ant to kill it for no reason. He'll give you a nice lecture about killing God's creation! His dream pet would be a bearded dragon, but I think that is highly unlikely to happen as long as he lives in my house! Maybe someday he'll have his dream job of a zoo keeper and he can take care of all kinds of interesting creatures.
