Abby has it pretty rough ... being the only girl with three brothers and all. For example she is the only one of our kids who has never had to share a room, she gets all new clothes and never has to wear hand-me-downs, she never has to share her toys and dolls with her siblings (because they don't want to play with her toys and dolls), etc., etc. ... BUT she DID have to ride a hand-me-down boy's bike. Abby has wanted a girl's bike since she learned how to ride this summer, but Mark and I felt that there was nothing wrong with the bike that her older brothers had used and that if she wanted a girl's bike she would need to buy it with her own money. So ... she's been saving little by little, but still didn't have enough money to buy her girl's bike until ...
this last Saturday we participated in DuPont's city wide garage sale and Mark gave her the idea to have her own lemonade & cupcake stand during the sale. So she and I made up 4-dozen cupcakes and three pitchers of lemonade, and our friend Marie made her this adorable stand (with a perfect little sob story on the bottom sign) ... and in a little over two hours Abby made $49.50 ... enough to buy her girl's bike!
So today after church and watching the Seahawks game (another sob story in itself), we went to Toys 'R' Us and Abby picked out this perfectly pink girl's bike!
We sent her to bed tonight telling her that Mark would build it tomorrow, but then put it together anyway and called her down in her pajamas to take her first spin! It is a much bigger bike than the hand-me-down she was used to riding, but she did great!
We are proud of Abby for not complaining and begging us to buy her a bike, but instead doing it on her own. And she was pretty proud, too, as we were counting out all of her quarters and dollar bills at the store today!

I am so proud of you Abby! You will have to show me how you look on it when I come down while your mom and dad are at Disneyland!
What an amazing girl you have...thanks to her amazing parents! Good job Abby, Mom & Dad!
Mark,
What a beautiful family. The Lord has blessed you!! I can't believe how big your kids are. I feel so old-because we started our family so late, but God has truly shown us His grace and love with our two boys.
Congratulations Abby! Mark & Gwen you guys have done an awesome job raising your kids. I love that you sent her to bed but then put the bike together and then let her ride it!!!
What a great lesson you've taught her. She's such an adorable little Miller.
GOOGJOB abby.love miki
